Painting trip to France
What could be better than a painting trip to France? We rented a house and car in Provence and spent 2 weeks exploring a small part of the Luberon. I prepared small chart art blanks, old navigation charts on heavy stock paper and drew with ink and Kremer watercolors. Most of the time we were oil painting, the chart art sketches were a fun way to document the trip and help find painting compositions. More to follow with the oils. The watercolor kit fit in a ziplock bag, very easy for traveling

Paint,Paint, Paint....
It's been a busy winter working on the St Joseph Heritage Mural, 23 panels to create. Starting in the beginning and working my way down the 70 foot wall. I'm painting in my studio and will install panels at the hospital. Here's a few images in progress.

New Heritage Mural in Bellingham
>
1890's operating room at St Joseph
2 young nuns were invited to Bellingham to start a hospital, it was a lonely road.
1920's nurse in Fairhaven
The sisters had a small dairy at the hospital for patients
Running to the ER.
There's a lot of great historic material to work with for the new Heritage Mural at Peacehealth, St Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham. The Whatcom Museum has extensive photo archives. The space inside the hospital is 70 feet long. My design will tell the story of healthcare in Bellingham, starting in 1890's with the 2 sisters that came out west and sold tickets for the hospital they wanted to start.
