At a figure drawing group typically things get started with quick 1 minute sketches, then poses are held for 5 minutes. Finally models hold 20 minute poses or longer. Sometimes a pose is held,and models are given breaks and then they resume the same pose. The longer the pose the better for most artist! We typically have 20 minute poses to gather as much visual information as possible. Here are 2 6 by 8" portraits directly painted with oils on small panels.

How inspriational it is to see beautiful work and the motivation to do " a painting a day." dailylifepainting.blogspot.com is a neighbor who does soemthing similar. I love the immense amount of artisitc ability in our island communitities. Thanks for inspiring.
