First Plein Air Painting of 2009




What a treat to be outside painting in Washington on Feb 18th! Super day at my favorite place, the beaches along the coastline, west of South Beach, at American Camp, San Juan Island. 16 x 20 oil on canvas.

Dogs in the snow




This oil painting and the pug below were created as a donation to the animal shelter at last year's Wag's to Riches auction. I donated a blank canvas with the idea that I would paint the owners's dog. There was a lot of enthusiasm for that at the auction, so I offered a second blank canvas. Just under $3000. was raised for the shelter! All for a good cause.

Sadly, I just learned that both of these dogs are gone, within the last month.
I'm glad to have spend time looking at their wonderful faces....My condolences
to the Brunkows for their loss.

Dodie Gann sits for her portrait




I did 2 versions of Dodie today, she was a wonderful model.
Mixed media on old piloting chart, gesso, pencil, acrylic, aquarelle pencils, matt medium.....about an hour pose for each drawing.
