3 Glass Floats

Today's daily oil painting is of my 3 Japanese glass floats. I have a big bowl of shells and floats, different sizes and colors. This 6 x 8" canvas was painted directly from life. At Funk & Junk, Cards also available of this image.

Lovely colours -looks almost like a watercolour. How are you getting on with Etsy compared with eBay. The interface seems more elegant.

Hi Kevo,
Thanks for your comments, I have been a member of ebay since 1997, mostly selling antiques and I am disgusted with ebay, which we call Fee-bay. Too corporate, nothing personal, today I can't even find the completed auction section!!!!! Etsy is fun, not too big, ok to get around, easy to list, I like the cheap listing fee....I like having an on -line portfolio with Etsy, I really like some of the work people are listing there. I like buyinh on etsy too!

Hi Annie,
Since 1997?! I only caught on to it last year! Anyway -you confirmed what I thought. I find the eBay experience really confusing. I'm off to have a look at Etsy. Thank you for your help. Keep on painting beautiful pictures...

Hi Kevo,
Are you an artist?

Kevo said...

Hi Annie -Yes, I'm an artist living in Dublin, Ireland. Mostly I do illustration work for newspapers and other businesses but my aim is really to end up painting for my own delectation. My web site is www.mcsherry.ie if you feel like dropping by, you're more than welcome.
All the best,
Kevin

Kevin, WOW!!! I love your imagination and high level of skill, that rugby guy is amazing!!! Why waste your time with etsy or ebay...go directly to Pixar, or where ever else you want to go.

Thanks for that, Annie - I feel great now! What I really like is to work at my own pace and whatever I feel inspired to paint. Although I have really enjoyed many projects [usually the ones that end up in my portfolio], illustration is almost by definition a collaboration and sharing artistic dilutes the joy somewhat. I've done 13 years as an illustrator which I look upon as paid time learning to paint. Now I need to actually paint something without the incentive of a deadline. This surely has to rank among the longest comments on a blog!

It's interesting to talk to other artists and see how each person figures things out for themselves. I'm hoping to be accepted for an artist - in - residency program later this year.It will be a month of uninterupted painting, which amounts to a giant creative free-fall. They provide the housing/studio space. You just bring your paint and brushes, no phone, no deadlines, just paint. I was at the Morris Graves Foundation in 2004 for a month and it was the greatest/Lots of great programs around the world.

Best of luck with your application for that residency. I've had a couple of stays in Cill Rialaig -an artists' retreat in South Kerry. Last year it was absolutely wonderful -and I hope to do it again. I opened my shop on Etsy, by the way. McSherryArt.

Your etsy shop looks great, the horse illustration is brilliant! Best of luck with that.
Glad you had a good residency, so many good places out there. With the ease of renting a house off-season these days on the internet, a person or a couple of artists can rent a place anywhere in the world and set up.
